Bursistis claims

Bursitis is a condition resulting from acute inflammation of the bursa which is a small sac filled with fluid. It's purpose is to facilitate smooth movement of tendons and muscles over the surfaces of bones and and around joints.

The bursa may be found at various points in the body but bursitis most commonly occurs in the shoulder (Beat Shoulder), the hand (Beat Hand) and the knee (Beat Knee or Housmaids Knee). Symptoms include pain, tenderness and possible stiffness, swelling or restriction in movement of the affected joint.

It is likely to be brought on if the joint in question is subjected to excessive friction, pressure, rubbing or constant repetitive movement.

Although bursitis can occur for various reasons in everday activities the condition can often be work induced as with certain other Repetitive strain injuries. Workers at risk are those whose activities involve kneeling a lot (Beat Knee), or prolonged pressure friction or movement of the shoulder hand or wrist.

Employers are legally obliged to to protect workers from this type of injury particularly with the increase in awareness of the risks over recent years. Part of any health and Safety programme should include an assessment of the exposure of employees to this type of injury and the implementation of suitable preventive measures. If an employee suffers injury due to the failure of an employer to recognise and deal with the risk, a successful compensation claim may result.

If you are suffering from bursitis which you believe to be work induced and would like to know whether you may be entitled to compensation, please complete the Application Form and we will provide a Free Legal Assessment of your claim. We will handle your claim on a No Win No Fee basis at no cost to you.
