Factory injury claims

Persons employed in factories are working in a potentially hazardous environment which exposes them to the risk of accidental injury or to contracting disease. Huge improvements have been made in industrial safety and workplaces generally are much safer than they were many years ago. Nevertheless thousands of factory workers suffer injury or disease every year.

Factory accidents may result from hazardous processes or dangerous machinery but the majority result from the the normal routine activities. Common causes are:-

  1. Manual handling operations
  2. Lifting equipment accidents
  3. Machinery accidents
  4. Slips, trips, falls
  5. Defects in premises or equipment
  6. Unsafe systems of work
  7. Inadequate traing or supervision

As well as the risk of accidents, workers may contract disease caused by substances to which they are exposed eg. skin or respiratory diseases or may suffer conditions such as Repetitive Strain Injury or Vibration White Finger as a result of the type of work they carry out. Employees working in a noisy environment may suffer from Industrial Deafness.

Numerous regulations have been brouht into effect over the years to improve workplace safety. Some apply in general terms eg the Health and Safety At Work Act. Others relate to specific areas of safety such as The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 or The Control Of Substances Hazardous To Health Regulations 1988 And 1994.

Employers also have a Common Law duty to protect their employees from injury or disease and breach of this or any statutory regulations may give rise to a claim for compensation if injury results.

If you have been injured in a factory accident in the last three years and would like a Free Legal Assessment of your claim please complete the Application Form. We will handle your claim on a No Win No Fee basis at no cost to you.
