Serious Head Injuries

Serious head injuries can occur in a variety of situations including car accidents. Other prime reasons for such injuries include motorcycle or bicycle accidents, slips and trips and falls from heights. Along with this, people who work in factories also sometimes become victims of serious head injuries.

Brain swelling, tearing as well as bleeding of the tissues are some of the things that generally occur when a person sustains serious head injuries. Head injuries can badly affect the brain portion of the body causing long lasting damage to the victim. In cases of minor head injuries  most people will gradually recover in a relatively short span of time.

Kinds of serious head injuries;

There are many different kinds of head injuries, some of which are as follows:

·                                 Brain contusion is generally called a bruise of the brain. This is normally where bleeding occurs and due to which swelling is caused.

·                                 A concussion is commonly known as jarring injury of the brain. Under this injury, the victim passes out for short while. On awakening the person often begins to feel dazed as well as possibly losing balance after the injury.

·                                 A skull fracture occurs when the skull cracks. In some cases it has been seen that the edges of the broken skull cut into the brain. Due to this, bleeding or any other kind of brain injury can also occur.

·                                 A haematoma is generally considered as the clotting of blood which forms a bump. In many cases it is seen that haematoma does not become apparent for several days. But symptoms such as balance problems, listlessness, headaches as well as throwing up can give clear indications about its occurrence.

Pedestrian Fall from Bicycle
Miss H was knocked off her bicycle when her front tyre struck a loose paving stone jutting into the road. She sustained a head injury causing severe short term memory loss and mood swings. After 2 years her original Solicitors withdrew from the case as they believed her claim had less than a 50% chance of succeeding. Miss H contacted Excalibur who agreed to represent her on a No win No fee basis.

Within 18 months the matter was resolved and Miss H received a settlement cheque of £300,000.00. She told us
"Thank you Excalibur for believing in me and my claim. My Solicitor was always available to me and happy to explain each step of the process. The only surprise was how much you managed to obtain for me without the need to go to trial. I will tell all my friends about your great service."
