Industrial lung disease claim

If adequate preventive measures are not taken, workers in many industries risk being exposed to potentially harmful substances which if inhaled, particularly over a long period, can cause permanent damage to their lungs.

It has been known for many years that certain industries eg. coal mining, asbestos, refractories involved possible exposure to harmful dust but there are many other industries where dust, chemicals, fumes, vapours and other substances present a risk.

These substances irritate the lungs resulting in various symptoms such as coughing, mucus and phlegm production, wheezing, and breathing difficulties.

Asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, silicosis, pneumoconiosis, mesothelioma, asbestosis, pleural plaques are some of the lung conditions which exposure to hazardous substances may induce.

Industrial lung disease is often not curable although in some cases the symptoms can be alleviated eg. inhalers, nebulisers, supplementary oxygen, drugs or improving the working or living environment. Serious cases can be very disabling, may deteriorate with age and even result in premature death.

In addition to an employer's Common Law duty of care there are a number of Statutes and Regulations in force to protect employees from developing Industrial Lung Disease from an unhealthy working environment. If an employee does develop a lung disease resulting from breach of duty on the part of the employer a right to compensation may exist.

If you are suffering from an Industrial Lung Disease and would like to know whether you may be entitled to compensation please complete the Application Form. We will provide a Free Legal Assessment of your case and will handle your claim on a No Win No Fee basis at no cost to you.
