Many children suffer accidents in playgrounds and fortunately, most of them are minor. However if a more serious injury occurs the child and parents may feel that compensation should be sought if they believe that the accident was the fault of the playground owner.

1. Faulty design of equipment eg. inadequate handrails or safety barriers
2. Faulty construction or installation of equipment
3. Inadequate maintenance/repair resulting in defects in equipment
4. Inadequate layout of the playground area
5. Failure to provide soft/absorbing surface beneath playground equipment
