Scaffolding accidents

A construction site is a potentially dangerous place, and falls from height are the single largest source of accidents causing death or serious injury in the building and construction industry. Many Of these accidents involve scaffolding.

There are numerous causes of Scaffolding accidents such as :-

  1. Plank slippage
  2. Incorrect, inadequate or improperly attached bracing
  3. Missing boards or base plates
  4. Worn or iadeqately maintained equipment
  5. Poor or inadequate guard railing
  6. Incorrectly attached ladder
  7. Defective foundations
  8. Falling objects

Employers have an obligation at Common Law to protect their employees from injury at work by having safe equipment, safe methods of work, competent workers etc. In addition, the use of scaffolding is governed by the The Construction (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1996. These require that scaffolding be safe to use, of sound construction and inspected by a competent person. Written records of inspections must be kept for a period of three months after completion of the work.

Breach of either Common Law or statute causing injury can render an employer liable to pay compensation damages to the injured victim.

If you have been injured in a scaffolding accident in the last three years you may be entitled to compensation. To obtain Free Legal Assessment of your case please complete the Application Form. We will handle your claim on a No Win No Fee basis at no cost to you.
