Moving Heavy Goods at Work

While most of us are usually worried about getting injured whilst on roads and other places, we can also become a victim of an accident at our. People are injured even whilst using simple machines like hand truck or sack truck while moving heavy goods at work. To prevent injuries at work whilst moving heavy loads, make sure that the forklift you are using is in perfect physical condition. If you think that the wheels are worn due to over-use and seem like they can come out any time, then do not use it and ask your employer to get it repaired or get a new one. Neglecting the physical condition of the forklift can not only damage the goods you are moving but also you and other workers around you.

Before using a hand truck or a sack truck, make sure that it is in good physical condition, no loose nuts or bolts and all parts should be well-oiled. It is also your responsibility to make sure that you do not leave a loaded hand truck in the middle of the way. The loaded truck may slide and bang on people around. This may be dangerous not only for the other materials and equipments lying around but also to people around. Always make sure that the trucks are well stored in their proper place so that people do not trip over it and it does not cause injuries to other people. Placing the truck at the proper place will make your work place a safer place to work in.

While moving heavy good at work, make sure that the hand truck you are using is not over-loaded. This may not only damage the truck but may also injure you. If you are dealing with a big consignment, then it is obvious for you to rush up but this mistake can prove to be very dangerous. Always move at a safe speed and do not rush or run while using your sack truck or hand truck. Faster speed will lose your control over your movements and you may end up getting seriously injured. Also make sure to wear all the safety equipments such as strong boots, hard hats, glasses and gloves so that you do not get seriously injured even if something unfortunate happens.

Slip in Public House
Mrs C whilst walking towards the bar area slipped on the wet floor of a public house whilst walking towards the bar area. She fell awkwardly causing a complex fracture of her right wrist. The insurers denied liability alleging the floor was dry and that Mrs C was drunk and jumping on the dancefloor. Excalibur obtained evidence refuting this and issued the claim at Court. Settlement was reached just prior to the trial when Mrs C was awarded £20,000.00 she said:
"I would just like to say thanks to the staff who have been first class explaining things to me all the way and keeping me informed."
